When hiring, recruiters more often pay attention to the practical experience and professional skills of candidates.This is evidenced by a Work.ua survey, which involved 2,215 company representatives.
What is more important than a diploma
Over half of the surveyed employers (52%) believe that work experience, practical skills, and the candidate’s real achievements are more important than a diploma.According to 39% of company representatives, a higher education diploma can be an advantage, but it is not a mandatory requirement for employment.Only 9% of employers named the presence of a diploma as a key factor when choosing an employee.
In which fields education remains mandatory
Requirements for higher education vary significantly depending on the field of activity.Most often, a diploma is one of the key criteria for employment in:
- public organizations — 80%;
- energy sector — 36%;
- jurisprudence — 35%;
- medicine, healthcare, and pharmacy — 30%;
- non-profit, charitable, and public organizations — 30%;
- media — 25%.
What this means for applicants
Although the survey results indicate that having a diploma does not guarantee successful employment, for some professions education is necessary due to qualification requirements.At the same time, for most employers, not educational documents, but practical experience, professional skills, and real work results of the candidate are decisive.
Which professions will be most relevant after the war ends
Finance.ua has already reported that after the war ends, IT, energy, mechanical engineering, and other technological fields will develop most actively in Ukraine.At the same time, students are advised not to focus solely on forecasts for future professions, but to choose a field of activity according to their interests.“Few people imagined, for example, that our defense sector would show such a quantum leap in five years, and we would have 900 companies in this sector today.
