Import of passenger cars cost almost UAH 100 billion in the first half of the year, Photo: magnificIn January-June, Ukrainians imported over 169 thousand passenger cars with a total value of UAH 96.6 billion. More than 70% of all imported cars were pre-owned vehicles. The largest number of vehicles came from the USA.This is evidenced by data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine, according to “Ukravtoprom”.
What cars did Ukrainians choose
Pre-owned vehicles constituted the largest share of imported cars—over 70% of the total number. They generated UAH 17.7 billion in customs payments to the state budget.The budget received UAH 14.4 billion from the import of new cars.The leaders among imported passenger cars were:
- gasoline—54.5%;
- diesel—20.3%;
- electric cars—13%;
- hybrids—12.1%.
Hybrid vehicles were the most expensive—their average cost was about $27,000.The average price of imported cars was also:
- diesel—$16,000;
- electric cars—over $10,000;
- gasoline—$9,000.
Where cars were most often imported from
Cars were imported from more than 50 countries worldwide. The largest number of vehicles came from the USA—73.2 thousand, or almost 43% of the total import volume.Other major supplier countries include Germany (17.3 thousand cars or 10% of total imports) and Poland (14.6 thousand cars or 9%).Previously, Finance.ua noted that based on the results of last year, cars purchased on lease accounted for about 7% of the new car market. Currently, not only the portfolio structure has changed, but also the balance of power among leasing companies.Among automotive brands, the most popular in leasing is Renault, with a share of 12.6%.The top three also include Toyota (10.5%) and Skoda (9.4%).
